Don’t Make Him A Liar

^“Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John. But John tried to deter him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?” Jesus replied, “Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness.” Then John consented. As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” Matthew 3:13-17 (NIV)

I like to start the Daily Cross with Bible verses. This has become my daily Bible study in the early hours before my second job. Sometimes, the point that I want to make seems very different from these verses, I promise that the point will be made because they all connect to our Lord and Savior.

“The Law and the Prophets were proclaimed until John. Since that time, the good news of the kingdom of God is being preached, and everyone is forcing their way into it. It is easier for heaven and earth to disappear than for the least stroke of a pen to drop out of the Law.” Luke 16:16-17 (NIV).

Our Lord declared that the Law and Prophets were proclaimed in the Old Testament era until John the Baptist. John was the last prophet sent by God to prepare the way for our Lord. Our Lord is not a prophet; He is God himself. There was a proper process in place for His plan.

In the parable of Matthew 21:33, our Lord also said:

“… and the vinedressers took his servants, beat one, killed one, and stoned another. Again He sent other servants, more than the first, and they did likewise to them. Then last of all, He sent his Son to them, saying, ‘They will respect my son.’ But when the vinedressers saw the Son, they said among themselves, ‘This is the heir. Come, let us kill him and seize his inheritance.’ So they took him and cast him out of the vineyard and killed him.” Matthew 21:33-43 (NKJV)

After the Son came, there was no plan to send any more servants. He was the last of all. The old way of Law was gone. There is a new covenant for Heaven and Earth. God humbled Himself and came down; we have seen Him and listened to His Words. We have tasted His Grace and Love. He went to the Cross for you and me. Do we need any more prophets? Mortals? For what?

I wrote a Daily Cross, “Choose Our Lord’s Side Only,” to remind us of the danger of investing energy, focus, and time in politics. It is easy to create an idol, and I have done the same before. As the same grace shown to me by our Lord, I want to tell you this: If you believe in our Lord Jesus Christ and trust His promise, don’t focus on someone who promises you money, jobs, retirement, border security and housing. Someone you don’t know behind closed doors. Don’t put hope on a man or woman that after every four years, they are gone. These men and women cannot quote Bible verses or any commands of our Lord because they fear losing their votes. Maybe they are not faking it because they simply don’t know any. How can an anointed messenger of God not know His messages?

If you have followed Daily Cross, I believe we have passed the halfway point of the seven years of Tribulation. The Book of Revelation mentions enemies but no prophets. The False Prophet, the Beast, and the Dragon are the enemies. Therefore, if anyone comes and says that he is the anointed one by God, either he is calling himself a false prophet, or our Lord Jesus Christ is a liar. You can only choose one.

The enemy is very deceitful. If your dedication is a calling to defend your country based on what they show you, you may want to consider turning all those noises off and pray for wisdom for your heart and salves for your eyes to see what our Lord sees. We are not even the good guys before our Lord; our Lord is certainly not interested in politics or money. He is only interested in our hearts that we are with Him and not against Him. Our Lord also said that many are on the wide road heading to the big gate for destruction. But only a few will find the narrow road and the small gate to eternal life. I want to be one of those few because I trust our Lord, and I hope you do, too.

“….Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this scroll, because the time is near. Let the one who does wrong continue to do wrong; let the vile person continue to be vile; let the one who does right continue to do right; and let the holy person continue to be holy.” “Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.” Revelation 22:10-13 (NIV)

Don’t you see? No more prophets are needed!
