A Marriage To Avoid At All Costs

“For out of the heart come evil thoughts—murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. These are what defile a person; but eating with unwashed hands does not defile them.” Matthew 15:19-20 (NIV)

Without our Lord’s grace, love, and mercy, I wouldn’t be here today to walk with you with the Daily Cross. Our Lord asked me to start this ministry with what my eyes and heart have seen to make disciples for Him, one person at a time. He showed me that time is short.

In the Daily Cross of “What Is The Will Of The Father”, we discussed the enemy and the evil spirits and how they work together against the Christians. A friend reminded me that we cannot give the entire credit to the enemy because our hearts are deceitful, and there is Free Will. We must be accountable for our sins. We have discussed that in Daily Cross, “Porn” and “Deceitful Heart & Real Enemy” a while ago and I think we shall remind ourselves again.

I have seen the devastating earthly consequences of porn addiction. Porn addiction is a heart issue, and they always start at a young age. The pathway always begins with curiosity and bad decisions. Then, cultivating more becomes a bad habit and then a full-blown hidden addiction. Most addictions of other types follow the same pathway but are more visible from the outside. Addictions are used as coping mechanisms for anything and everything in our lives. Porn addition not treated will not stop there. The deceitful heart always wants more, and the enemy’s goal is to destroy the body and lead the soul to be his companion in the Lake of Fire when the time comes.

The sexual sins lead to death. It may not be a physical death now, but the death of marriage relationships, family relationships, reputation, friendship, work, and other kinds. There is not much difference between Christians and the secular world for porn addictions. The statistic I know shows at least 50% of pastors use porn regularly, and even more percentage for churchgoers. The enemy and his minions can sense a deceitful heart and smell it miles away like a shark sensing blood. It is easy for them, and they only need to add little lies as oxygen daily to keep that ember alive in the heart. Soon, it will be enough to ignite a wildfire when other conditions are met.

What are the other conditions required to start the wildfire?

Pride and Resentment.

I believe the Apostles Peter and Paul knew about this from their personal experience:

Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.” 1 Peter 5:6-9 (NIV)

In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold.” Ephesians 4:26-27 (NIV)

Pride and Resentment are a marriage to avoid at all costs. Their firstborn will be called Entitlement. Entitlement is the real fuel to ignite the wildfire. It also led to the downfall of the enemy. Entitlement is when one thinks one deserves something, regardless of the outcome.

Next time, when your pride and resentment arise against your loved ones, keep your mouth closed, go to an empty room, humble yourself, and pray to our Lord for your loved ones and yourself. Pray to erase the pride and resentment of all parties involved. Pray also for forgiveness. We are entitled to nothing before the Cross with blood stains from our Lord. We cannot change any heart or shield anyone from the enemy, but our Lord Jesus Christ can.
