Make A Covenant With Our Eyes

“The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!” Matthew 6:22-23 (NIV)

The commands of our Lord Jesus Christ cover all aspects of our lives. These commands are addressed to our hearts and the salvation of our souls. But they are often against our flesh’s desires. The mission of this ministry is to remind us daily about these commands and share some burdens for our walk on the narrow road.

I have witnessed the destructive effect of the bondage of pornography on young men, married men, and middle-aged and older men during the men’s purity ministry. Age was never an obstacle for the enemy to entice. Some say one becomes wiser as one age, but this is not always the case. The enemy attacks everyone the same because he goes after a prideful heart.

Porn addiction is a heart problem, and it always starts with our eyes. It starts with curiosity. Our eyes always want more because our hearts are deceitful. By watching and cultivating it more, it becomes a bad habit and then a sinful addiction. This sexual sin will not stop there if left untreated and unrepented. It leads to the death of relationships and severe consequences, as well as guaranteed emptiness and depression. The most serious consequence is that when the time comes, and we knock on the door, we may hear our Lord say, “I never knew you. Go away!”

“So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:18 (NIV)

I often discussed the heavenly realm, the unseen world we belong to. The unseen world controls the seen world. There is a legalistic rule in both worlds; it is either free will or requires authorization from the maximum authority, the Father and the Son. In the Book of Job, the enemy received God’s permission to set Job on trial, and I don’t think Job agreed to that. But for someone to click on the tabs to access Porn sites and agrees to the terms to watch those things, that’s an invitation. Permission is now given through a legal agreement in both worlds because of free will, and spiritual attacks are now legal for the enemy and his minions. That was no longer a simple click but a click for life and death from that moment. There is no exaggeration here.

“I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers and sisters, so that you may not be conceited: Israel has experienced a hardening in part until the full number of the Gentiles has come in” Romans 11:25 (NIV)

The enemy’s goal is to destroy, which is personal to him because he cannot bear the thoughts that many can be in the presence of the Father by believing in His Only Son. The enemy wants as many goats as possible to delay the appointed time by reducing the number of sheep. This is childish in my point of view.

What about watching other movies and TV shows?

I can only share what I know from my own experience and what I have observed. If the movies are unsuitable for children, they are not ideal for adults either. Suppose someone watches a movie about witchcraft, ghosts, demons, murders, sexual immorality, and paranormal activities. It provides legal access and invites other kinds of evil forces. Permission is required in the heavenly realm for a horrible nightmare to occur. Scientists would tell you differently because the unseen is not their expertise. It is okay if you disagree with me. But this is something to think about. The enemy and his minions did not try to hide their intention and objective for the “programming.”

“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.” Philippians 4:8-9 (NIV)

We know how to care for our bodies by eating healthy, but we ought to take care of our hearts. When we make a covenant with our eyes, our hearts will be purified with peace and our bodies full of light. This is also a condition for walking on the narrow road.
