Inscription

“He saw through their duplicity and said to them, “Show me a denarius. Whose image and inscription are on it?” “Caesar’s,” they replied. He said to them, “Then give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.”” Luke 20:23-25 (NIV)

These are interesting verses for self-reflection. Some like to complain about many things, such as the government and high taxes.

I was one of them and not content. I was also critical of certain politicians, thinking maybe others were more suitable.

But our Lord has commanded us to give what the earthly rulers ask.

The question is, what do we need to give back to our Lord Jesus Christ that is His?

“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’ “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’ “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’“Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”  Matthew 25:41-46 (NIV)

Plus, Love originated from Him. Everything noble, holy, righteousness, gentleness and humbleness. All goodness comes from Him.

Since we cannot give back something we don’t have, we shall ask Him for those things, for we need them.

Daily prayers to ask for those things is a good start.
