Love Is A Decision

Then I saw in the right hand of him who sat on the throne a scroll with writing on both sides and sealed with seven seals. And I saw a mighty angel proclaiming in a loud voice, “Who is worthy to break the seals and open the scroll?” But no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth could open the scroll or even look inside it. I wept and wept because no one was found who was worthy to open the scroll or look inside. Then one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.” Revelation 5:1-5 (NIV)

No one in Heaven was worthy to open the scroll. How come? John, the disciple loved by our Lord, was not worthy to open the scroll. I believe he was very scared when he saw that. He must have remembered the story of Sodom y Gomorra.

If no one in Heaven was worthy to open the scroll, no one on Earth was worthy. No one was worthy before God, but only His Son. His Only Begotten Son who took the sins of the world upon Himself.

If sins can be quantified, we are talking about a trillion tons of weight from the sins of the world. That kind of weight can crash anyone and anything, even though, our Lord Jesus Christ took that cup and drank it. Because of this act, salvation came to you and me.

“You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own Love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:6-8 (NIV)

Can someone choose to die for someone he never met, be prepared for it and even look forward to it? When someone is willing to do that and has that kind of love, the sky opens up, and all enemies stay far back and bow. Even the enemy does not understand it. It is uncomprehensive for him. One can never understand the power of love if there is no love in one.

There are times when you may feel exhausted and resentful because you haven’t received any return from your love. The truth is that love can be a one-way street in many situations. It is not just a feeling; it is a decision one makes. Otherwise, we may only be seeking our own benefit without recognizing it.

I believe that when we make a decision to love, regardless of whether we receive it back or not, we are imitating our Lord Jesus Christ, who did the same for us. He leads by example, so we know it is okay to love expecting nothing in return. Don’t listen to the world to tell you otherwise. The only One who is worthy and He will also return soon to show you how much He loves you.

I can’t wait.
