A Prayer for The Mustard Seed

“He told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.” Matthew 13:31-32 (NIV)

“Because you have so little Faith. Truly I tell you, if you have Faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew 17:20-21 (NIV)

Our Lord Jesus Christ loves mustard seeds. I have shared our interpretation of the mustard seeds parable, which our Lord did not explain to His disciples. The mighty power of God is shown in a tiny mustard seed, which has a supernatural life mystery. You can plant this tiny seed in the garden and add some water; it will grow big, become a tree, and create an ecosystem for birds.

We often think too highly of ourselves. We cannot bury a Ford engine in the backyard and expect it to grow into a pickup truck. We cannot plant a microchip in the patio and expect a computer to appear. Human creation is no match to God’s creation. As disciples, we know it is not about us anymore. It is all about Him. All good things come from the above, and faith is given by the above, too. Not all at once, but gradually, when one trusts and obeys our Lord Jesus Christ. So, no one can boast.

Faith the size of a mustard seed is considered a strong faith by our Lord’s standard. It can help you to move mountains on your journey. This prayer may help you.

“ Dear Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus Christ,

Thank you for your love. Consider your servant worthy of mercy.

Help me to focus on the Cross and give me faith the size of a mustard seed so I can walk through the fire like refining gold.
