What Is The Will Of The Father

They went to Capernaum, and when the Sabbath came, Jesus went into the synagogue and began to teach. The people were amazed at his teaching, because he taught them as one who had authority, not as the teachers of the law. Just then a man in their synagogue who was possessed by an impure spirit cried out, “What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are – the Holy One of God!”, “Be quiet!” said Jesus sternly. “Come out of him!” The impure spirit shook the man violently and came out of him with a shriek.” Mark 1:21-26 (NIV)

This event was one of the first miracles our Lord performed publicly when He started His ministry. We know our Lord has all the authority on earth, as in heaven. All evil spirits and demons bowed to Him. All evil spirits and demons seemed to know our Lord. I made some guesses in Daily Cross: “Where Did The Demons and Evil Spirits Come From” (May/13), quoting from the Book of Enoch.

But what was an evil spirit doing in the synagogue?

All evil spirits need a host. Our Lord said an evil spirit went out from one person, went to places, and found no rest. It decided to return to that person and found the place empty. So it brought his friends, and the state of that person was worse than before. There is another event with the legion of demons asking permission from our Lord to leave the madman and go to 2,000 pigs. You know what happened after that.

Many Christians argue that evil spirits can’t dwell inside a Church or Christians. Many believe that once a person is baptized, the Holy Spirit immediately comes upon them, and evil spirits are gone and cannot touch them. I know a person who was baptized in the Jordan River and was one of the exclusive group of twelve disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ, and he was blessed to see our Lord face to face every day. Later, he was used by the enemy and betrayed our Lord for thirty pieces of silver.

“Then Satan entered Judas, called Iscariot, one of the Twelve.” Luke 22:3 (NIV).

How do you explain that?

I have also witnessed many cases myself in the healing & deliverance ministry. Not everyone who receives a baptism has the guarantee that the enemy cannot take advantage of this person. Some even had the worst spiritual attacks and deep depression. It is the Free Will through and through. Our Lord sends the Holy Spirit once He decides the place and time and whether the person deserves it at a particular time of the journey. It is not something we can buy, order on demand, or pretend. Our Lord cannot be mocked. It is all about one’s heart and not just a membership. I guess no one doubted many megachurch pastors seemed full of the holy spirit until they got caught.

Some said I’m too harsh on pastors: “What is your point?”

I don’t have any point. I only say what I have been taught. Our Lord is greater than all, and I was purchased with a price so I can share about righteousness and truth and speak out for His mercy and love without fear. I was not called to introduce Him to unbelievers. I was called to make disciples for Him and to save one person at a time until His return. My job is to sound alert, and our Lord will take care of the rest.

If the Holy Spirit is in a person, can the evil spirit dwell with the Holy Spirit in the same person? Yes, for a period of time until our Lord decides. It is the sanctification process. Apostle Paul was an anointed disciple and had the Holy Spirit on him. He could heal the sick and cast out evil spirits and demons; even the evil spirits knew him by name. But Paul shared the following experience with us:

“Even if I should choose to boast, I would not be a fool, because I would be speaking the truth. But I refrain, so no one will think more of me than is warranted by what I do or say, or because of these surpassingly great revelations. Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” 2 Corinthians 12:6-9 (NIV)

Our Lord decides.

Many Christians believe their salvation is guaranteed because our Lord Jesus Christ died for their sins, and they have nothing to worry about. I suggest verifying this with our Lord’s words and not just hearing from your pastors, who may sugarcoat the messages to make you feel good and for themselves to feel better. Those who teach will be judged harshly. Many pastors preach for earthly comfort and never call for repentance for the forgiveness of sins. They are like pilots of commercial airlines carrying hundreds of passengers. Some are like captains of cruise ships carrying thousands of passengers. The biggest storm is coming, and they say nothing so the parties can go on.

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ Matthew 7:21-23 (NIV)

Those who say ‘Lord, Lord,’ are Christians, most likely baptized Christians.

Those who perform public prophesy, deliverance and healing ministries in our Lord’s name are pastors, most likely well-known pastors.

Let’s take a pause. You may think that if these Christians cannot be saved, who can?

Do not be scared. You can.

There is still time to do the will of the Father in heaven so we can enter the Kingdom of Heaven when the time comes.

What is the will of the Father?

To Repent, Trust and Obey His Son.
