The Perfect Thing To Do

“Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” Matthew 6:1-4 (NIV)

I have seen many people who like to receive recognition when they give, especially when those gifts are for personal or company images. There was always pride and ego involved. Before knowing our Lord Jesus Christ, I was one of them. Earthly recognition is only temporary, and you and I know that people forget things pretty fast now. Would it add to our eternal salvation if someone does not forget our good deeds? I doubt that. Shall we only seek recognition from the above? I believe so.

My family take their time to pray for everyone they know before the meals. Those prayers are across continents, and everyone is important. I have learned to enjoy those long prayers even when food gets cold. These prayers are done in love by denying the flesh with the temptation on the table. It can become powerful and effective when you do it often without ceasing. These are done in secret. But when gathering with friends and family, they would have shorter prayers.

Many of you also pray in secret for your church, families, and friends. So you know that giving has more blessings than receiving. By praying for others, you offer yourselves to help others through the unseen realm, and the unseen governs the seen. Therefore, by doing so, you shall receive blessings.

Apostle James said, “Faith without deeds is dead…”

Apostle Paul said, “Love is greater than Faith…”

Our Lord said, ”The Heavenly Father will not forget good deeds done in secret…”

Therefore, for disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ, the perfect thing to do is to love with good deeds done in secret.
